Buriano is an
ancient country house, situated on a hilltop in the beautiful Italian
countryside between Tuscany and Umbria.

Buriano is located
close to a considerable amount of well known Italian cultural and artistic
places, such as Orvieto, Bolsena's lake, Todi, Perugia, Assisi, Rome,
Florence and Siena. This particular location in the heart of Italy makes
Buriano an ideal location for day trips to art and cultural cities as well
as to relaxing and fun areas for evening entertainment.
A small chapel, dating back to the Benedictine period (the year 1300),
is annexed to the main farmhouse. The architectural style of the church
enhances the ancient history of the farmhouse.
Buriano farmhouse was first built before
the year 1000 but the area was most likely inhabited for many centuries even
before then as an original roman cistern was recently discovered in the
garden during the renovation work on the farmhouse.
The whole farmhouse has been completely renovated in 2002
to provide all the modern comforts to our guests but keeping in mind to
preserve the original ancient architectural style. The apartments are
equipped with all the modern technologies whilst keeping the decor
traditional, typical of this kind of ancient Italian farmhouses.
The farmhouse has a wonderful view and surrounded by
beautiful countryside. It is located on a farm of 40 acres. Wheat, corn,
sunflowers and olive trees are some of the crops planted in the nearby
fields. This peaceful and remote location guarantees relaxing holidays in
the heart of the splendid Italian countryside
The olives trees, the vineyards and the surrounding woods,
frame the natural landscape and provide an ideal setting for long walks in
the middle of a still wild countryside. It isn’t rare to spot some of the
local wildlife typical of the area (porcupines, pheasants, foxes etc.)
The farmhouse
Buriano is divided into two floors; the
ground floor is split into two separate apartments each containing two
double bedrooms (4 beds), kitchen, bathroom and living room. The first floor
has one big apartment that has 4 double bedrooms (8 beds), kitchen, large
living room and 3 bathrooms.
The apartments are equipped with all the modern comforts
and can satisfy even the most demanding guests (open fireplaces, outdoor
wood powered oven, barbeques, washing machines, dishwashers, safety boxes,
individual heating, telephone, satellite TV,
etc). Clean sheets and towels are distributed upon the guest's arrival and
changed weekly. There is also the possibility to request (when reserving the
apartment) personnel for domestic help.

Other common areas on the grounds of
Buriano
are: the ancient chapel, a common room that can be used as a social room or
breakfast room, an ancient underground wine cellar carved in the typical
volcanic rock 'tufo'. Each individual apartment has it’s own private garden
(equipped with sun beds and umbrellas as well as having access to the large
common garden where an outdoor swimming pool is located.
The quaint chapel is decorated in frescos (15th century)
and is still consecrated, ideal for intimate religious ceremonies such
as weddings. A local restaurant serving dishes typical of the centre of
Italy is just 5 minutes walk from the farmhouse and 2 km (1.3 miles)
away, there is a small old village called
Lubriano where all sorts of shops and cafés can be found and
from where it's possible to admire the wonderful views of the
Valle dei Calanchi and
Civita di Bagnoregio.
